Special announcement SMTC - 13.01.12
Hello all
We are very excited to announce that our next show, taking place at The Courtyard Theatre the week beginning 15 October, will be the fabulously extravagant La Cage Aux Folles!
The production team have BIG plans for this show and believe me when I say you do not want to miss taking part in it, either in the cast, backstage or in the audience!
Plot and characters
The hugely colourful show centres on Georges - the gay manager of a Saint-Tropez nightclub featuring drag entertainment - and Albin, his romantic partner and star attraction. Farcical adventures ensue when Georges's son, Jean-Michel, brings home his fiancée's ultra-conservative parents to meet them.
Auditions
Auditions will take place early March. Full details will be given in future newsletters so watch this space!
Please be aware, commitment is of the utmost importance and those taking part will be expected to attend all rehearsals barring planned holidays, illness or family obligations.
Social
As a bit of a social, we are arranging a trip to The Grand Theatre in Wolverhampton on 23 February to see their current La Cage Aux Folles production. If you would like to come, please contact Jo Pearson at jopearson1@hotmail.com no later than Wednesday 18 January (next week). If you can’t make this date but would still like to see the show, the leaflet and relevant contact details are attached to this email.
Production
Our show will take place the week beginning 15 October and the lucky cast will get the chance to tread the boards at the prestigious Courtyard Theatre. Opening night and matinee dates will be confirmed at a later stage.
Your society needs you!
In a bid to ensure that props, wardrobe and front of house run smoothly and effectively for the show we will be appointing a manager for each of these areas who will in turn have a team of helpers. As always, these are fundamental to the success of a show and we need committed, enthusiastic people (of which we are in abundance in our membership) to please come forward. If you are interested in taking part, please email me on kaz_jones1976@yahoo.co.uk
This is an exciting, challenging show and we hope that you are all as charged as we are!
Many thanks
